MArch II is a postgraduate, second professional degree program newly established at the Department of Architecture, NCKU. It started in the fall of 2013, with a hope to enhance the development and exploration of forward-looking design issues and strengthen the links of architectural design with industrial technology and urban humanity. On the basis of the overall research capacity at NCKU, MArch II recruits students with 5-year architectural professional background, brings in all related resources, and extends the contact and training of design research. The purpose of MArch II is to increase the depth and implementation of architectural creation.

The curriculum of MArch II is structured as a 3-semester master degree program. As shown in the figure below, the first semester consists of Core Design Studio and Introduction to Design Research. The second semester consists of Design Integration Research and International Workshop. Finally, the third semester consists of Design Thesis, Exhibition, and Publication. Note that design and research are constantly alternating and penetrating in the three semesters. Furthermore, MArch II creates a co-advising system supported by both of the design and research faculties. In response to various design issues, students may select and undertake the following four types of research: (1) Digital Fabrication, (2) Environmental Technology, (3) Structure and Tectonics, (4) Social Design and Urbanism.
