INTRODUCTION

Detached townhouses architectural forms, providing the largest private residence efficiency in the building boundary line, but it caused the problem of lack of space in public life. However, people stamped on top of existing building ,in order to meet the individual needs and desires of expanding the use of space. I think the roof space has the opportunity to become the co-working space in the community and promote the interaction between the neighbors. The aging community located in the downtown business district faced with lack of public space. This study attempts to explore the space support system of community public life.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Through the observation and recording of open spaces and activities development in Yin Tong community, Tainan, I collate its properties and further analysis the possibility of using materiality elements to support public activities. From community public space and facilities demands point of view, incorporating the characteristics of community open spaces and urban space design principles of the central business district. I propose the public space management plan traits.

Using Yin Tong community as a classic example of urban old city centre, I propose three points, friendliness, intimacy and communication, as the methods to review urban space s and objects. To further propose strategies for space, activities and objects.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Survey combined with interactive activities, can implement the bottom-up participation of residents. For users, the design professional's design thinking affect the users' thinking. For designer, that can truly touch the actual life experience and needs of users, reversing the subjective design method. This design provides the community in favor of utilization of the frame unit in response to demands and easy to adjust.Elderly could adopt the framework, and add decorations and functions.Customized units just like personal life showcases of local residents and show the spirit of the the community and fully supports the residents' living habits and community activities.Unlike professionals operate the public space design in the past, it is necessary to integrate the bottom-up participation in the design phase. During the program development process, I found that considerations of the urgency of needs and the economy factor were important. Effective interaction with residents is relatively necessary in the design progress.

CONCLUSION

Through the assistance of professionals with design methods to integrate the participation of local residence from bottom-up. Residents thus forming an emotional link with the outdoor environment during the transition period of the vacant space . Through the good participative planning and design, designers influence residents' and operators' values and provide a long-term vision of the good common interest.
